MISSION LED LEADERSHIP : FOR BUILDING TRUST, BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND DRIVING GROWTH

High performing workplace explores talents, nurtures innovations and creates values for the world either in the form of product or services. Those organisations are able to drive the emotions of the employees because of its well defined purpose, it executes through people and drives the hearts and minds to contribute for that. They make it clear about why, how and when.

The mission is not a statement looking fancy or making show off to the world. The power of the statement pulls the people to come, join and work with love and commitment. The people, who love the work, they just work, not being bothered by the material gain. They derive happiness staying connected to the purpose and getting opportunity to contribute for that.  They create differences in the work place.

Google’s Mission Statement :

Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

In a Company interview Zuckerberg said:

“Facebook’s mission is to give everyone in the world the power to share, and to make the world more open and connected. Connecting the world is one of the fundamental challenges of our generation, so this is a long-term effort. As long as we stay focused on that mission, we’re going to keep attracting talented people who share the same goal and want to make it a reality.”

In both the mission statement, the purpose is very clear,

both are working on a world’s prospective

first one is helping to organizing and  disseminate information

or we can interpret that it is helping to drive a information based society

second one is working for connecting hearts and minds to connect the hearts by sharing the emotions, views and thoughts.

Those inspiring missions make those great leaders distinctive in the business world for their pursuit of excellence.

Such clear and broad missions help to identify the people living for similar goals and connect them to the organization, which not only helps in recruiting but also inducting them to the system automatically.

Purpose makes the people understand why they join a company, how they will contribute with the values they carry with themselves and defines ways to connect to that.

The Purpose Builds the Trust : The high performing organizations build trust among the people, what they are going to realize at the end vis a vis to their contribution to the system with respect to material achievement, mental satisfaction and accomplishing their own goals.  A clear direction facilitates the people to work without any fear, fear of disconnect from ambition, fear of missing direction of  life, fear of reaching at the wrong place. The relationship between organization and employee works on trust, which facilitates both parties to work together and grow together.

The Purpose helps to attract the talented people : Talents always search for the opportunity to apply their knowledge and grow in the respective field. The well conceptualized and stated purpose helps to attract them to a particular organization, denying the other competitive offer. There are thousands of examples, we all must have come across, where people deny for the highest financial package and join the competitive offer. Competitive means, the offer which gives them the reason to live and work.

The purpose Builds Confidence : It has been observed that in corporate, the people are confused about job and purpose, the financial packages and their own values,  self esteem and confidence. So always effort is there by the organization to build confidence among the people because  confident people work much more than the confused because they can take the major unbiased decisions. The clarity of thoughts and understanding helps them to innovate in the process by understanding the societal or business dynamics, which is most volatile. The research shows, the confident people add around 250% more values to the organization than the confused people.

The Purpose Drives the Growth : Growth of any organization is highly dependent on workplace performances, its culture and effectiveness. The purpose helps to increase the passionate engagement of the employees in the workplace. While google was launching a new product the line of action properly defined to the workers was understanding the requirement, customizing the product to create values, then combining the video and text together to search. The clear statements or directions eliminate confusions, misunderstandings and miscommunication. Transparency brings autonomy to take decisions, to put the thoughts to innovate and autonomy creates the ownership, which drives the growth.

The purpose driven organizations create the communities with ‘Power to Lead’.

The combination of words means a lot to preach a sermon, to pave a path and needless to say, to build one's own future bright. The author dreams everyone to conceive a system for flying at high altitude rather just to follow it. Burning example of her concept, as I opine is Dr Achyutaya Samanta, Hon'ble Founder, KIIT Group of Institutions and all his own hand made beautiful organization's. Really inspired Madam.

First of all I would like to thank you for writing this blog after a long time. In the era of high profile sexual harassment allegations and data – privacy scandals, it is evident we are facing a leadership crisis. There is always a question arises how do we go about it ? The solution as given by you are very simple and effective. It should be every organization's top priority to identify and place true leaders to whom others will believe in and willing to follow and inspire by their character and way of addressing the issues. I think we are having one such great leadership in KIIT as Prof A Samanta and he also suitably created many leadership like you to take care of different wings of KIIT and KISS. Very nice article.
