BUILDING ORGANISATION : RISK TO SUSTAINABILITY
Post pandemic future imaginations are all around people, talent, lives, livelihood, work, work places etc. Getting the right talent for the right work and for right time period is being very challenging. Attracting talents to the new organization was always difficult, their continuance in the same organization was much more difficult and getting aspired work done from them was most difficult job. But, after outbreak of this pandemic, the whole working and job space has changed. The talents are being defined as the value creators, not the followers. In digitization era, most of the routine works are being automated and human intervention is being required in the case of highly analytical research oriented activities and decision making process, though machine is helping by providing the information of the past on application of Artificial Intelligence.
In any new organization, challenges are many starting from getting finance, having trust of the people, right kind of personnel, expertise in diverse fields, compelled to take high risk decisions etc. All those challenges together compiles to high amount of risk and many times put the organization future at stake. While going through such highly vulnerable period, organizations must focus on following aspects.
Vision : Vision and mission of any organization creates purpose for the stake holders to love and follow. Socially oriented objectives are universally accepted and followed passionately because of its pervasiveness and life changing capabilities. Such vision not only attracts good people into the system, but also creates reason for them to continue with their committed contributions. Development of circular value chain inside the organization endeavor to achieve excellence in the field by increasing resilience in each and every level.
Design : Organizational design, starting from personnel structure, reporting lines, standardization of operational processes, inbuilt agility across all areas contribute for sustainability of the organization. Human resources, most dynamic aspect of any organization, which build up organizational culture, traditions, relationships, systems and dynamically change with time with or without training. The delegation of authority is made to empower each and every person in the line of command to take decision and to get rid of the confusions in the system. Well standardized systems with sufficient flexibilities help the people to make changes with dynamism and vision and to accept the changes without much resistance. Sustainable design is the philosophy of combining physical objective with societal goal and human wellbeing.
Social Impact : Impact organizations connect themselves into social systems more efficiently than its counter parts. The values created by those organizations around it always accelerates its presence and helps to move forward with much effectiveness and confidence. Its connected to number of social and human issues, develop eco-system inside the organization to identify the challenges and orienting its efforts to solve it. United Nations Sustainable Development goals are focused to design human lives and its living environment towards betterment with respect to peaceful co-existence, away from sufferings, accessibility to eisting resources and power to take decision.
Relationships : Organizations maintain either positive or reactive relationships with the world. Always demand is there to maintain balance between economic, social, environmental outcomes and most of the time it is dependent on the capabilities of decision makers. Equal distribution of values created by any organization among shareholders, employees, environment and systemic development builds strong relationship among all stake holders of business and make organization more stable. Informal network with trade unions, social activists, environmentalists, scientists and technocrats working in the field always provide the sense of security and connectedness. Such connectedness generates ownership for the society and forces the organization to contribute more for adding values to the society and lives. While community participation in organizational relationships is critical, human aspirations are core of any organizational objective formulation, process development and achievement.
Knowledge : Knowledge creation and retention both play a vital role in any organization. The brilliance and expertise help to create the knowledge, but its continuation needs constant inspiration and motivation in all levels starting from personal, financial and career growth opportunities. Identification of new knowledge or novelty of job, developing processes for auto refinement and continuation of innovation through natural evolution process of organization is very important and retention of such knowledge inside the organization is much more important. Such processes never get obsolete and always maintain its relevance with time and need. According to Chanakya, worldly knowledge is the supreme of all the knowledge, which helps to stay connected with nature and all who live in the universe naturally without establishing a formal process.
Organizations established to achieve excellence through a resilient process slowly develop a sustainable system for years to serve the humanity. The intelligent system built in and around, filter outs the information for the organization and provides alerts for improvement. Life Cycle Thinking, Systems Thinking and Circular Thinking ideates regenerative design to get matured with time.

It's really impressive…
Very impressive article Ma'am. We all know we are a non-profit organization but problem is we think like non-profit organizations. For sustainability we need to practice sustainable values such as responsibility, respect and support. We should respond to change and exploits it as an opportunity. Our leadership is always look into the future and see the organization not as it is but as it should be.
It’s all about sustainability after this pandemic and Prof. Samanta, you have rightly pointed out a crucial point that to become sustainable, the leaders must first define their vision/goal and then devise a methodology (design) to achieve it. Ensuring an effective Organizational Culture, an inclusive growth agenda with the right people in the right place and a tinge of social impact will definitely help in achieving goals and maintain sustainability.
One of the best articles I have ever come across!
My submission is as per below:
The Covid-19 pandemic pushes organizations to innovate, adapt, & be responsive to new conditions.
These demands are exacerbated as organizations respond to the triple sustainability challenge of social, environmental issues, & economic issues.
The management should work taking above factors into consideration for long term sustainability of the Organisation.
Thanks
